Using an AppleWorks Presentation Template

You may wish to use an existing template and just make changes to it.  Open

AppleWorks and at the Starting Points Window (File--Show Starting Points), click the templates tab.  Choose any of the presentation templates and click on it.  To change the text within the text boxes simply click in the box, delete the text, and type what you want.  If there is a gray box on the slide it is locked.  This can be unlocked by clicking on it so the handles appear and then click on Arrange and Unlock.  The background can be edited by clicking on Options and Edit Background. Move to the next slide by clicking on its icon in the Controls palette.

Additional slides can be added by clicking on the + once in the slide show tab.  Highlighting a slide and pressing the - will delete that particular slide.

**If the Controls Window is not showing, choose Window--Show Presentation Controls.

Creating a New Template

You may create your own master slide by going to File--New--Presentation or by clicking presentation on the Starting Points Window.  Using your tools, controls, and accents windows you are able to design your own master slide.  Add text, clip art, tables, digital pictures, etc.  Let your imagination run wild!!

Creating Speaker Notes

Highlight any slide that you choose to write notes for.  Click the Window menu and choose Notes View.  Notes appear below the slide. Click in the box to type the notes you want.  You may change the font and size.  The notes can be printed to aid the presenter, but they will not show when the slide show is presented.  (To print the notes be sure to select Notes in the print menu).  If printing to a laser printer you may need to choose the General tab and then AppleWorks 6 in the print menu in order to select notes to print.
