Using the UMax Vista Scanner

1. Place the picture face down in the scanner.

2. Click on the Adobe PhotoShop icon (Graphics Tools) on the launcher.

3. File--Import--UMax Vista Scan

4. Make sure the Advanced button is selected. Also check that 150 dpi
is the number selected in the dots per inch line.

5. Click Preview. This will show you what you are about to scan. When
the image appears drag the dotted lines until they make a border
around the image.

6. Click Scan.

7. File--Save As

**Be sure to select PICT file in the format box and select the location
where you want the image to be saved (desktop, Guest, etc.) and then click Save.

**If you wish to save the images to your ME server folder save them first to the desktop and then drag them into your ME server folder.

(You can save the image as a JPEG format too, but it saves almost three times the size of the PICT format.)

8. Click OK in the next box that appears (do not change anything here).

9. Open AppleWorks. It usually works best to insert the image into a
draw document. Make sure the tools menu is open. (If not,
Window-Show Tools).

10. The arrow must be highlighted in the tools menu. Click on File and
Insert to locate your pict file (be sure to change the file format to All
Available or the Pict files will not show up).

11. Highlight the Pict file and Insert into the document.
